FA Cup

The FA Cup, officially known as the Football Association Challenge Cup, is the oldest national football competition in the world. Established in 1871, it is an annual knockout tournament in English football, open to all eligible teams in the English football league system, including professional clubs from the Premier League and English Football League, as well as amateur and semi-professional teams. The competition features a series of rounds culminating in a final, where the two remaining teams compete for the trophy. The FA Cup is renowned for its tradition and the potential for “giant-killing” matches, where lower-ranked teams defeat higher-ranked opponents. It holds significant prestige and is a notable event in the English football calendar, offering clubs the opportunity for silverware and a place in European competitions.
