English League

The English League, formally known as the English Football League (EFL), is the governing body that oversees professional football leagues in England. It was established in 1888 and is the oldest football league in the world. The league structure consists of multiple tiers, with the Football League Championship being the second tier below the Premier League, followed by League One and League Two. The English league system is hierarchical, allowing for promotion and relegation between the divisions based on team performance. The EFL plays a crucial role in managing competitions, including the League Cup (EFL Cup) and the EFL Trophy, and is integral to the development and regulation of football in England outside the Premier League.
